2 of 3 in the series: Interactive World Music combines 8 styles of world music into 1 interactive resource that has been cut into 3 smaller sections so it fits on TES! This part comprises of the Europe and Africa world music styles: Irish Folk, Malian drumming and South African Gospel Singing. This resource is made on Microsoft PowerPoint and is a full scheme of work aimed at Key Stage 3 students studying World Music. When all three parts are put together there is enough content to deliver of a full term (12-15 weeks) and it comes with a work booklet with questions the students need uncover the answers to. It is interactive and click-able with the aim being that students take their time working through it at their own pace so it is perfect for the current at-home learning and online teaching. There are audio clips, videos and information to uncover and practical tasks in the form of performances and compositions for students to complete. Cutting it down into smaller chunks also makes it easier to send to students at home who will need to open up the file as a PowerPoint Slide Show. This resource only operates at 100% accuracy with Microsoft PowerPoint. It will open on Google Slides but there is no guarantee of compatability.

Unit 1: BTEC Music Industry Interactive PowerPoint

(1)
The entire Music Business in one, easy-to-use and interactive PowerPoint, complete with work booklet filled with questions, tasks, revision and 8 Mark Question practice. The idea behind this is that every student has their own copy and they take their time, working through various tasks and topics within the BTEC Music Industry Unit 1. It is designed to be delivered at home in the current lock-down and can be streamed from a teacher’s computer or sent to individual students for them to control and operate it themselves. There are videos, hidden object research games and examples of how everything links together. The resource covers all the roles and responsibilities of members of the Music Industry including: Record Companies, Recording Studios, Touring, Licenses, Unions, Management, Journalism, Venues, Promoters, Agents, Making Money and Contracts. There are also 2 interactive revision games included in the form of a Million Pound Drop style quiz and a Bingo Revision game. There are also numerous 8 Mark Questions in the work booklet and there are 5 exemplars in the PowerPoint. All you’ll need to do is download the PowerPoint file and then save it as a Slide Show and then send that file to the students. This way, they can access all the content without changing any of the information. After that, you’re away! I’ve found the best way to deliver it is to teach the content and then once a topic is completed (say Unions for example), direct the students to the page in the booklet and the slide on the PowerPoint and for them to use the booklet as their neat copy for future revision. I also managed to print off the booklets and get them sent home to students so they have something in front of them to work from but if this is not possible, try emailing it to them instead. Final note: this will only open and function 100% accurately in Microsoft PowerPoint. It will open in Google Slides but the functionality will be lost

Interactive Instruments

Built for delivering during the lockdown, the Interactive Instrument Resource has 7 in-built instruments that are all click-able for students to experience practical music lessons from their own home. The 7 instruments are: Glockenspiel with a C major scale and 2 backing tracks to play along with* Violin fretboard with 2+ C major scales and 2 backing tracks* Set of orchestral percussion and 2 backing tracks* Piano keyboard with 2 full octaves and 3 backing tracks A trumpet with 2 octaves and 1 backing track A Guzheng Zither with 2 Pentatonic octaves and 1 backing track Drum kit and electronic drum kit with 3 backing tracks *Same backing tracks for these instruments The resource works best when the students have downloaded their own version and can run it at home on Microsoft PowerPoint. The idea is that they work on a particular instrument for a lesson but this isn’t a scheme of work, just a play-able tool for students at home. Please have a look at the photos for further examples of the display and functionality. Just to clarify: you will need Microsoft PowerPoint to run this file
BTEC Music Industry Tour Planning Game

BTEC Music Industry Tour Planning Game

(0)
A Board Game for BTEC Music students to learn how to plan their own country-wide tour. This resource is a fun and interactive way for students to understand how to plan a tour around the U.K whilst getting to grips with what it would be like for a booking agent to do this in real life! Students will have to navigate Transportation, Venue Hire, Merchandise Sales and Ticketing as well as planning a Marketing Strategy and utilising Promotional ideas. There are some things to consider thrown in along the way to make sure students are planning their tour in the most profitable way possible as well as some rewards for arranging their tour with good strategy. Students will need 2 plastic counters (or coins) to chart their progress across the Map and the Calendar respectively as well as a calculator and pencil to fill in their progress along their journey and keep an accurate log of their profits. Students will also get a chance to practice Maths as they figure out percentages or their profits along the way, The aim of the game is for students to make the biggest profit they can by manipulating their moves to give them the best possible outcomes. Some gigs at Venues will make a profit and some will make a loss but there are many different strategies to take when planning the tour. There are three A3 sized pages: a Map to be used as the playing board, a Calendar to plan your progress on and an Instructions page which explains how the game works which includes a detailed example. Once the Instructions and Maps have been printed, they can be re-used over and over again but to re-set the game, re-print the Calendars as this is what the students write their progress and Tour on. The game takes roughly 2 lessons to complete but can be done quicker when students are more familiar with it. The key concept is that they are implementing already learned information about Touring and Venue hire into a practical environment. Enjoy!

Topics such as Notes on the Staff, Musical Elements, Instruments of the Orchestra and Rhythm are incorporated here in a style that students will find engaging and enjoyable, with the main purpose of encouraging independence in the classroom. Students can operate their own programme and work through the tasks and resources at their own pace, re-visiting sections for further understanding as well as taking on more complex tasks to push the higher ability. There are listening tasks, recall tests and quizzes included in the programme as well as audio clips and performance opportunities. Designed for Key Stage 3 Music Students, this interactive and fully click-able resource is perfect for helping pupils independently learn how to play chords on the Piano, Guitar and Ukulele as well as learning the notes on the Bass. Students can have the programme open in front of them and at their own pace, learn how to play 4 different instruments. The Guitar and Ukulele pages have images or finger positions, audio clips to make sure the chords are correct and tablature to help understand the written form and the Piano and Bass pages have highlighted notes for easy learning. There is also a full functioning and click-able piano keyboard to help teach intervals and complex chords to students, all at their own pace. Once students have mastered an instrument, there are 2 full functioning and commonly played chord sequences for students to practice play alongside and to test their ability to change chords and to stay in time with a backing track. This is a perfect resource for anyone teaching Band, Ensemble or Musical Futures schemes of work and it is essential for students learning how to take their first steps into playing chords. For best results, make this programme accessible to all students on a common drive so they can each have it open on their own computers and work through it independently.
