This is a 32 slide Powerpoint, including videos and high quality unique animations around the subject of Growth-Mindset designed for presentation to staff and parents alike. Many parts are also suitable for children themselves especially the videos. Uniquely designed and produced my myself and an extremely reputable colleague for use at inset in school, who has now gone on to advise in this area. As we designed this resource collaboratively I am lucky enough to be able to post these particular elements here. I have also included slide handouts and and a Mac / Keynote / iPad version of the resource, which also has embedded video files. Note the keynote version of the resource has additional special effects for Mac / OS/ iPad users. An extensive set of resources used highly successfully for an observation lesson on whether a polygon is ‘regular’ or ‘Irregular’. Used in a Year 5 class and includes plan, differentiated resources and presentation that are easily adaptable. (Please note I have also included this presentation in MAC Keynote format as well as Powerpoint format for apple users. )

E-Safety Resources and lesson plans for KS2

A collection of resources that will be helpful for teaching children the anti-bullying message in higher elementary school classes. I have also included a list of ideas for anti-bullying week which may be of help to your school / class. I have also included a short assembly with the excellent short animation Narrated by Kate Winslet and lots of additional resources. (If this embed in the Powerpoint doesn't work I have included the video file as a link in the notes section and as a file here.) I have included the Mac 'Keynote' version of this resource for those of you that own apple computers. (I originally made it here.) I have also written an example 'anti-bullying letter' example written in shared writing with the children and a 'Dealing with dilemmas' PowerPoint (i.e. what to do in certain situations.) I have always found the website 'Go-Givers' to be excellent. NB I do not claim to own the video sections of this resource.

Ideal for years 3 and 4. A great way to get boys interested in writing by using film clips from Shrek to get them involved. UPDATED for 2025, completely unique idea. This lesson involves following a short section of the film Shrek and its script that I have typed out. Children then go on to write a short section of the script by converting a piece of text into a playscript. Children have always loved this lesson and it always provides some funny voices too from the class. I have used it in observation lessons several times with great results. Includes Edited video clips from Shrek to watch and follow along Required script section to follow movie clip Lesson plan Required worksheet to convert text into playscript form Here are some notes from the lesson plan. Whole class work: Allow children to watch the ‘extended’ Shrek video clip. Tell the children that although the characters are animated using a computer the voices are done by actors. Give children the handout of a section of a partial script according to the clip they have seen. Play ‘Shrek movie clip to follow’ and have children follow the dialogue as it happens on their handout. After playing get some of the children to act this out (they will have great fun putting the voices on.) Tick off with the children the features of the playscript that are contained in this handout. Activity: Give children the handout ‘writing playscripts worksheet’ get them to convert this into a playscript style into their books. This has part of the previous script that hasn’t been converted (so remove their copy of the previous handout.) Play the clip several times and get them to annotate who is saying what in two different colours (Shrek or Donkey) Get children to then continue the playscript in the style of the movie. A great way to do this is to use the ‘Angry Birds’ video game to spark their interest I have included a powerpoint and some posters / worksheets to help. Also some sheets that go well with the Pixar short movie included. In its current form a great activity for year 5/6 although very easily adapted for years 3/4. I have designed a unique set of resources designed to engage children in Literacy. Also excellent for a futuristic topic. Please note this is a set of unique resources, not a unit of work or lesson plan. It is designed for teachers to ‘dip into’ as they wish or even as part of a whole school topic. There is tonnes of material and this took many hours to assemble. Resources Updated 2023 2015 was the year that in the Back to the Future films they visited the ‘future’. October was the month of ‘Back to the Future Day.’ The resources could be used as part of a thematic unit or within other units of the curriculum. Excellent for Newspapers and Non-Fiction writing opportunities in particular. Specially selected and organised original Powerpoint (and Keynote / ipad / mac versions) of riddles and problems to make pupils think about things creatively, many completely original. A great thing to start or finish the day with on the whiteboard, organised into powerpoints for you. For example… (Morning activities) ‘How many countries in the world can you think of?’ (Lateral thinking) Why is it better to have round manhole covers than square ones? Answer: Round covers cannot be dropped or fall down a manhole, unlike square ones. I hope you enjoy using these with your class.

A Smart Notebook file, about finding change from £1. The coins can be moved into the actual hand as required to help the childrens understanding. I can’t stress how helpful the notebook file is to illustrate this. Suitable for years 2-4 I have also included a lesson plan for this particular lesson I was observed on and a large collection of differentiated worksheets.

A document for parents and pupils to sign. Invaluable for E-Safety and security. Editable as I have included my word version of the document. Has gone down well with many schools. This is a snippet from the top of the document... Parents / Carers play a crucial role in ensuring that their children understand the need to use the internet / mobile devices in an appropriate way. Research shows that many parents and carers do not fully understand the issues and are less experienced in the use of ICT than their children. The school will therefore take every opportunity to help parents understand these issues through parents’ evenings, newsletters, letters, website / VLE and information about national / local e-safety campaigns / literature. This agreement is aimed at fostering that approach. Invaluable and guaranteed to save you time.
