Improve your beginner music students’ rest value recognition skills with this game of musical snap.
It includes the rests for:
– Quavers/eighth notes
– Crotchets/quarter notes
– Minims/half notes
– Dotted minims/dotted half notes
– Semibreves/whole notes
Each card contains a series of notes adding up to 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 beats. Players can snap any two identical cards or any two cards that add up to the same number of beats. Once they can play this game successfully, pupils will have a solid grounding in rest values and their equivalents.
Rest Value Snap can be played as a quick 5 or 10-minute game during lessons or your pupils can spend longer playing it at home as part of their practice time. Encourage children to reinforce their knowledge by showing their sibling or parent how to play – they’ll love taking on the role of teacher.
These cards can also be used as flashcards. Challenge your students to add the rest values on as many cards as they can in one minute.
The pack includes two versions. Version one has a patterned back. Fold over each card and laminate it for a hardwearing copy that can be used in every lesson. Version two has no back so you can print it directly on to card.
