Narrative Writing – Marking Criteria Rubric with Feedback Tick Boxes

(0)
This narrative marking criteria and feedback tick boxes will make your marking a lot quicker! You no longer need to repeat yourself and write the same comments for each of your students. I’ve used this marking criteria and feedback tick boxes to mark Grades 7 and 8 short stories, narratives and imaginative writings. It definitely made my marking more time efficient as I just tick a feedback box instead of writing it. Students also find it a lot easier to read the feedback tick boxes because they’re written in dot points. So it’s a win-win situation! Recommended for: Grades 7–12 Includes: ✓ Editable Word (.docx) file Also Available: ➤ Essay Writing – Marking Criteria with Feedback Tick Boxes ➤ Multimodal Presentation – Marking Criteria Rubric with Feedback Tick Boxes

2 Matching Figurative Language Techniques Worksheets

These 2 worksheets are a great lesson starter to recap students’ ability to identify figurative / language techniques. To save paper, each worksheet is ready to be printed as 2 pages per A4 paper. I usually hand out the first worksheet, Matching Language Techniques 1, to my Grade 8 and 9 classes as a lesson starter before I annotate poetry and short stories with them. It helps students remember the different types of language techniques before annotating a text as a class. In the following lesson, I would give my students Matching Language Techniques 2 and it’s a bit more challenging because they’re familiar with the language techniques from the first one. Nonetheless, I had a low performing Grade 9 class and so I’ve made a differentiated version of Matching Language Techniques 2 to ensure that it’s not too hard for them. Recommended for: Grades 7–9 Duration: ~10 minutes per worksheet Includes: ✓ Editable Word (.docx) files ✓ Differentiation for low performing students ✓ Answers WHAT FIGURATIVE / LANGUAGE TECHNIQUES ARE COVERED? Matching Language Techniques 1 • Simile • Repetition • Enjambment • Metaphor • Alliteration • Rhyme • Hyperbole • Personification Matching Language Techniques 2 • Simile • Oxymoron • Alliteration • Rhyme • Metaphor • Assonance • Personification • Onomatopoeia • Sibilance • Hyperbole • Consonance Other Figurative / Language Techniques Resources: ➤ Magic School Escape Room – Narrative Structure & Figurative / Language Techniques ➤ Escape the Pirate Ship – Poetry & Figurative / Language Techniques Escape Room ➤ Figurative / Language Techniques Bingo
