What Is Confirmation? – KS3 Catholic RE Lesson

This fully resourced and engaging Year 7 lesson invites pupils to discover the meaning and importance of the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic faith. Designed to align with the KS3 Religious Education Directory (RED) and inspired by Source & Summit for Year 7, this lesson helps students understand how Confirmation strengthens the gift of the Holy Spirit, deepens their relationship with Jesus, and calls them to live as active members of the Church.

Written for a reading age of 10, the resource offers clear explanations of key terms, addresses common misconceptions, and presents accessible scriptural references (e.g. Acts 2:1-4, John 14:16-17). With supportive visuals, discussion prompts, and scaffolded activities including PEEL paragraphs and comprehension questions, pupils are guided to reflect on how Confirmation empowers them to witness faith in their daily lives.

Ideal for Catholic RE teachers seeking a thoughtful, student-friendly approach to teaching this vital sacrament.
