**What Is the Church? – KS3 Catholic RE Lesson **
This fully resourced and engaging Year 7 lesson helps pupils explore the Catholic belief that the Church is more than a building—it is the People of God, the Body of Christ, and the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Designed to meet the aims of the KS3 Religious Education Directory (RED) and drawing from Source & Summit for Year 7, this lesson deepens pupils’ understanding of how the Church connects to the Holy Trinity and the mission of Jesus.
Tailored for students with a reading age of 10, the resource includes clear definitions of key terms, misconceptions to correct, simplified scriptural sources (e.g. 1 Corinthians 12, John 13:34), visual clipart to aid understanding, and structured PEEL and comprehension tasks. Pupils are supported to reflect on the Church’s unity, diversity, and calling to live out God’s love in the world.
Perfect for Catholic RE teachers looking for a thoughtful and accessible way to teach the theological foundations of the Church.
