The predecessors of today’s Americans were the Pilgrims.
They made an application to start a colony.
They used discourse with Thees and Thous.
Their charter is expository of their purpose.
They wanted to amplify their religiousity to surpass what could be done in England
where they were persecuted.
They had to contend with and repel Indians, and deal with other adversities.
It is a paradox that they persecuted others of different faiths.

The Pilgrims, considered early ancestors of modern Americans, sought official
permission to establish a colony.
Their speech reflected the formal religious language of the time,
filled with “thees” and “thous.”
Their founding charter clearly outlined their goals:
to practice their faith more freely than was possible in England,
where they faced religious persecution.
Once in the New World, they encountered many challenges,
including conflict with Indigenous peoples and other hardships.
Ironically, despite fleeing oppression themselves, they went on
to persecute those with differing religious beliefs.
