Trade Union Debating Exercise

Ideal exercise for students to get involved in a purposeful, academic debating exercise.

Scenario: There has been a breakdown in workplace communications. The Trade Union and Business Owners are provided with differing sets of demands. Each team member gives a specific part of their argument in order to facilitate oracy, presentation skills and purposeful, persuasive debating amongst peers:

  • Point
  • Evidence
  • Analysis
  • Evaluation

The opposing team then counter-argues in a similar format before the exercise concludes with ACAS mediating / negotiating a settlement.
