This resource includes a fully comprehensive powerpoint ,worksheets/resources catering to a wide range of abilities, preparation list and a lesson plan.

This is the fourth lesson in a sequence. The lesson can be taught independently without the need for the previous lessons or the future lessons. This lesson can be picked up and taught straight from however is fully editable.

In this lesson children will recap on their prior knowledge by matching animal groups to the descriptions. Children will be given information about what an animal eats and decide with a partner whether it is a herbivore , carnivore or omnivore . This will ensure that prior learning is at the forefront of children’s minds to help them make connections with their new learning and support their understanding.

Children will be reminded that humans are animals and that they belong to the mammal group. As a class children will label the fact and the body.

Children will discuss with a partner Zack ,a zookeepers, comment that the only part of his body needed is his hands. Children will be encouraged to develop reasoning skills using sentence stems to support oracy.

Children will complete an independent activity labelling the parts of a body.

Helping hands is provided for children who need additional support as well as a chilli challenge to broaden children’s understanding. .
