The Last Tree in the City – 33-Page Cross-Curricular Resource Pack (EYFS & KS1)
Inspired by The Last Tree in the City by Peter Carnavas, this carefully designed pack features, hand-drawn illustrations, drawn by myself, to support and enhance the learning experience across literacy, numeracy, PSED, and creative activities.

Suitable for Reception upwards, this 33-page pack includes a wide range of engaging and thought-provoking tasks to deepen children’s understanding of the story’s environmental message and character journey.

Resources include:

Story sequencing

Exploring feelings

Seasons and growth (order by height/growth)

PSED: Who cut the tree? Preferred city? Cheerful places

Labelling activity: Edward saving the tree

Creative: Put yourself in a tree, finger painting, design a poster

Topic links: Why do we need trees? What is the tree now? What is made from a tree?

Literacy: Writing frame, display pictures/flashcards

Numeracy: Numbers to 5, number bonds, repeating patterns, more/less

Maze, season cards, colouring tasks

This pack is ideal for cross-curricular learning and whole-class discussions about nature, emotions, and responsibility.

If you enjoy using this resource, as much as I’ve enjoyed drawing them, I’d love it if you could leave positive feedback – it really supports my work and helps others find it too.
