Pupils read one of the model non-chronological reports about kapok trees, and then examine its features; label the layout features of a non-chronological report; sort the sentences about kapok trees into sections; and plan and write their own non-chronological report using the templates. Pupils can create the information text about kapok trees or one of the animals from the book, such as a jaguar, sloth or boa constrictor. These activities can be carried out over several lessons.
