This resource was created to support emotional literacy, reflection, and neurodiversity awareness in the classroom. Inspired by the children’s book Stuff I Can’t Say Out Loud, it offers students a gentle and accessible way to explore their thoughts and feelings through journaling.

Designed especially for students with ADHD, sensory sensitivity, or busy, buzzing brains, this toolkit includes:

A printable visual journal guide: “Summer’s Journal Toolkit”

Simple writing prompts for days when students don’t know what to say

Creative strategies for emotional regulation and self-expression

Encouragement for using pictures, colour, and personal symbols

Ideas for turning journaling into a brain space, not just a diary

Suitable for PSHE lessons, well-being check-ins, SEN support, or individual reflection time. The tone and format are friendly, inclusive, and easy to adapt across age groups (particularly KS2 and early KS3).

Also pairs well with classroom discussions about feelings, friendship, identity, and listening well.
