Are you looking for an engaging resource to teach scalar and vector quantities to your middle schoolers? This resource may be just what you need. It will offer your learners the opportunity to:

  1. Compare and contrast Scalar and Vector Quantities

  2. Draw vector arrows to help guide a mouse to find a piece of cheese in a maze.

  3. Solve questions involving distance (scalar) and displacement (vector) quantities.

***Please see the preview for sample worksheets and more details ****

What’s included in this resource?

  • Scalar Vs Vector Quantities Venn Diagram Worksheet
  • A Tail of Survival Worksheet
  • Calculation Questions Worksheet
  • Answer Keys
  • Teacher Guide
  • The resource comes in three parts.

PART 1: Scalar Vs Vector Venn Diagram

In this part, students will compare and contrast scalar and vector quantities in a Venn diagram. Afterwards, they will color examples of scalar, vector, and non-physical quantities as yellow, pink, and blue respectively.

PART 2:A Tail of Survival Worksheet

In this part, students will draw vector arrows that will help Mr. Jerry Mouse to find a piece of cheese while avoiding cats and traps in a maze. I have included instruction in the teacher guide.

PART 3: Calculation Questions

In this part, students will solve 5 questions involving distance (scalar) and displacement (vector).

***Check out more details in the preview ***

The resource can be easily integrated into your existing teaching materials, used as a stand-alone or even as a review at the end of the unit.

I believe this resource will engage your students while they explore this important physics topic. They will have the chance to compare and contrast scalar and vector quantities, learn examples of each and try some calculation questions. The activities require little prep time on the part of the teacher. Which is a big win.

I have included the answer key to all worksheets. See preview.
