This workbook contains the key points students need to know for each method, practical activities to consolidate these, then practice questions for AO1 and AO2 and some examination practice questions. Alongside the main research methods, I have included related content, such as science reports, peer reviews, implications for the economy and features of a science. There is also an accompanying answer book for the practice AO1 retrieval questions and the AO2 application practice. Mark schemes for the practice examination questions can be obtained freely from AQA so have not been included in the answer book. Each file is in PDF format. The content has been checked as being in line with the specification changes for 2025.
I plan to use a lot more retrieval practice in my lessons next year, and this resource has been created to support this. I intend to use various activities to support students in memorising the key AO1 and AO3 points for each research method, and then they can turn the page in the workbook and try answering the questions from memory. We will check the AO1 retrieval first and only then move onto the AO2 application. I have included practical activities for most research methods to help make it more interesting and relevant for students, and hopefully to increase elaborative rehearsal and deeper learning.
I think this will make my life a lot easier next year, and the students will be much clearer on exactly what they NEED to know. Hope this is helpful for you too!
