Using the GCSE (AQA) - Paper One examination format, this reading practice paper contains an extract, questions and model answers.
The extract is taken from the opening of a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, “This Side of Paradise”. It is an unusual opening due to the withholding of key information. This is followed by four questions, typical of the AQA exam paper.
To support students, writing scaffolds are provided to help answer Questions 3 and 4. This is ideal for students who struggle to structure their ideas. Model answers are also included.
A further booklet is provided which outlines the key structural devices.
