Make poetry revision exciting and memorable with this interactive, student-friendly board game designed for the AQA GCSE English Literature Power and Conflict poetry cluster. Ideal for revision, small group activities, or creative homework tasks!
How It Works:
Pupils travel around the board, collecting one card from each of four colour-coded categories:
🟡 Poet & Context – facts about the poet and historical or political background
🟠 Themes & Messages – exploration of big ideas like power, conflict, memory, identity
🟣 Language & Structure – questions on poetic techniques, form, and structure
🟢 Comparison Skills – questions that ask pupils to compare poems or ideas across texts
Players must collect one card from each colour category before heading back to the start to win. Each colour includes differentiated questions to suit a range of abilities.
Includes:
- Full-colour printable board
- 24 question cards (6 per category, colour-coded & differentiated)
- Character tokens (customisable: pupils can create their own “poet characters” or use symbolic images like doves, poppies, helmets, or pens)

- Blank board, cards and tiles for pupils to create their own version (great for homework or extension tasks)
