If you’re after a star-themed place value maths activity, you’ve found it! This activity is a great way for children to practise their understanding of place value by using place value blocks to make each star, then students count the ones, tens, or hundreds to work out the total.

There are 11 different star designs to choose from, plus a page for students to design and make their own star.

Possible ways to use these stars:

  • at a centre with place value blocks
  • a station activity with place value blocks
  • on the wall for students to go and look at (visual activity rather than hands-on)
  • a Matariki activity
  • space-themed day

What’s included?

  • 12 full-size mats
  • 12 task cards
  • recording sheet
  • answer key

Nine cards use ones and tens blocks, and two cards use ones and hundred blocks.

I hope your students enjoy practising their place value skills with these stars!
