Take Maths lessons outside with these activities for understanding inequalities and comparing number or fractions. EYFS, KS1, KS2 + differentiation ideas.

As well as the benefits of fresh air and exercise, the enjoyment factor and the wellbeing effects of green spaces, outdoor experiences are also crucial for children’s development. Young brains grow through experimenting with different textures, hearing different sounds, inhaling different smells. Even germs (in small amounts) are needed to develop healthy immune systems.

This activity requires simply gathering a few sticks and then using any small natural objects (stones, conquers, leaves etc.). It can used to teach a variety of objectives from the KS1 and KS2 Maths curriculum, and includes suggestions for adapting and differentiating.
