15 Lessons - KS3 Unit of work on Non-Fiction with a focus on writing skills and survival. Students to imagine they are competing on a reality TV show called “The Last Survivor” in which they would have to survive on an island for 28 days.

Resources Include:

  • 1 creative writing assessment.
  • Students to learn how to use complex sentences, subordinate clauses, persuasive language, emotive language, metaphors, adverbs, imperatives, and sophisticated and imaginative vocabulary.
  • Students to learn how to write to explain, describe and inform.
  • Students to write a letter, diary entries, a speech, an instruction guide, pitch a show and write a description.
  • Students to learn about survival and focus on building presentation skills by pitching a show at the end of the unit.
  • 1 Lesson on analysing the language of a non fiction text, focusing on a review of “The Island with Bear Grylls”
  • 3 vocabulary support sheets included.
  • Models to support students with their writing
