Support meaningful classroom conversations about race, diversity, and self-worth with this engaging KS1 resource pack inspired by the acclaimed book My Skin, Your Skin. Designed for young learners, this resource gives primary teachers the tools to help children understand and celebrate their unique identities, while building self-esteem and promoting anti-racist values.
My Skin, Your Skin is a powerful book for both children and adults, encouraging open, age-appropriate dialogue about race and anti-racism. The story empowers every child to embrace who they are, developing self-love and a strong sense of self-worth—no matter their skin colour.
This KS1 resource pack includes three thoughtfully structured activities:
-
Activity One – What Makes You Unique?
Pupils explore differences and similarities, reflecting on what makes each of us unique. -
Activity Two – Let’s Talk Racism
Children learn what racism is, why it is wrong, and how to respond if they witness or experience it. -
Activity Three – Let’s Talk Empowerment
Students reflect on their strengths, what makes them special, and how to celebrate themselves and others.
These activities are suitable for use in PSHE lessons, circle time, or as part of wider class discussions on diversity and inclusion. By using these resources alongside My Skin, Your Skin, schools can create space for children to build confidence, respect, and understanding in a supportive learning environment.
