This is a unit of History learning for the study of the Kingdom of Benin. The unit includes a comprehension PowerPoint and all the resources you will need to teach. There are many activities including looking at artefacts and discussing with partner/group. There are many critical skills based questions that encourage children to ask questions about changing perceptions of African history. The lessons include: where was the kingdom of Benin, a close examination of the beautiful art, religion, trade (including the slave trade) and the destruction of the empire.
