This resource is a student work booklet on the Schlieffen Plan. Students learn what the plan was, why it failed, and the key events surrounding it. Through guided tasks, they will also judge the most important reason for its failure and consider its wider impact on the war. Whilst this booklet was made for Cambridge IGCSE History (Depth Study A: The First World War, 1914–18), it is also suitable for other exam boards that cover the Schlieffen Plan. The activities link directly to the Cambridge IGCSE History Coursebook, Third Edition, which students will need to use alongside the booklet.
Learning Outcomes:
- Know the key events around the Schlieffen Plan.
- Describe the Schlieffen Plan and why it failed.
- Judge the most important reason why the Schlieffen Plan failed.
