This resource is a student work booklet on Troops from the British Empire during the First World War. Students explore the contributions of soldiers from across the Empire, particularly in Canada, India and South Africa, and analyse the role they played in the conflict. Whilst designed for Cambridge IGCSE History (Depth Study A: The First World War, 1914–18), it is also suitable for other exam boards that cover the First World War. The activities link directly to the Cambridge IGCSE History Coursebook, Third Edition, which students will need to use alongside the booklet. All resources are included, including an information booklet about all of the different British Empire troops, from the West Indies to Australia!

Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyse the role of British Empire troops in the First World War.
  • Describe the contribution of British Empire troops, especially in Africa.
  • Know at least five facts about Canadian, Indian, and South African troops.
