KS3 King Alfred the Great History lesson designed for Year 7-9 students.

This lesson’s objective is for students to discover how impactful Alfred the Great was to England’s future and how he made Wessex the most formidable Anglo-Saxon kingdom around.

This lesson tests a student’s ability to read interpretations and make judgements. It also teaches students how to judge and measure significance through Alfred’s strengths and weaknesses; finally assessing whether Alfred deserved his title as the ‘Great’ Anglo-Saxon King. The extended writing task is has scaffolding.

The lesson is complete with starter tasks and plenary tasks and comes with a Diamond Nine worksheet and information sheet.
