This extract gives weaker students a simplified and broken down way of accessing a fiction text. It can easily be adjusted to suit an academic, able group. The first part poses comprehension and language activities to ensure the text is carefully read. The second part gives questions which follow the style of Language Paper 1 for AQA - analysing language, writing about structure and evaluating a section of the extract. It can easily be modifed to be used with the Edexcel specification

There are writing activities to include vocabulary building, as well as the usual exam style writing activity, with 2 writing options. First writing with a picture stimulus, second writing follow a prompt linked to the theme of the extract.
