Feeling Cards, designed to help students quickly and confidently identify how they feel about a topic or concept during a lesson. The cards use simple, colour-coded options ranging from “I feel confident” to “I need more support”, allowing students to reflect on their understanding in a non-verbal, accessible way. This encourages greater self-awareness, supports differentiated teaching, and helps teachers identify students who may require additional guidance. The resource can be used as a starter, plenary, or mid-lesson check-in, making it a versatile tool for promoting student voice and improving classroom assessment for learning (AfL). It’s particularly useful in mixed-ability and SEND-friendly classrooms, where students might find it easier to express how they’re feeling about a topic through a visual prompt rather than verbally.
