This is an ESL English lesson, tailored to the new Pearson Edexcel (2023) ESL GCSE examination series. The lesson focuses on the third unit: Employment.
Students spend this lesson completing a mock interview in the style of the GCSE speaking exam. The teacher firstly models a question and answer, and the class discuss what marks they think the student achieved before reading the examiner’s comments. Students are then given a interview speaking card and peer-assess each other against the mark scheme. Most tasks are differentiated to accommodate those with a basic level of English, to the more proficient speakers.
