I run this lesson before letting any student work on the lathe. This teaches them about the different parts to the machine as well as what they do. Typically I run a demonstration whilst they complete the worksheet.
The Risk Assessment task is important as they will have to complete a full Assessment for their Unit 7 paperwork (please see my other resources). This gives them the practice in order to complete this to a good standard but also serves to teach them about the important safety features of the machine.
