
This activity explores the point of view of an American man named Jack who reflects on how the start of World War II helped lift the nation out of the Great Depression. Students will examine his perspective on years of poverty, joblessness, and hardship, and how the war effort brought new opportunities, steady work, and a renewed sense of purpose. Through his reflections, they will analyze how the demands of wartime production helped end the Depression and gave struggling Americans a chance to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
