An introductory lesson to prepare students for studying Jane Austen’s Emma.

The lesson allows students to discuss the historical and social contexts of Georgian-Regency England, find out about Jane Austen’s own life and reflect on how this might have impacted on her own writing, before moving on to study the plot and the first chapter of Austen’s ‘Emma’ in detail.
