Eduqas GCSE Music Keyword Cards - Perfect for revision, retrieval, games, and more!
A set of 50 keyword cards to support students in revising their knowledge of musical terms in preparation for the Eduqas GCSE Music Appraising exam.
Cards #1 - #40 cover the musical terms listed in Appendix C of the Eduqas GCSE Music specification.
Cards #41 - #45 cover musical terms related to Set Work 1, J. S. Bach’s Badinerie.
Cards #46 - #50 cover musical terms related to Set Work 2, Toto’s Africa.
No two cards are the same, although most keywords do appear more than once.
Having a secure knowledge and understanding of these musical terms is essential in achieving success in the Appraising exam. If they do not know what an ‘anacrusis’ is, for example, how will they know if one features in the music they are listening to?!
Ideas for using this resource:

Display a keyword card on the board and have students write down and/or discuss the definitions of each musical term.

Print the keyword cards and use as retrieval tasks in revision lessons and/or independent study.

Print and laminate the keyword cards, distribute among students, and play a game of Keyword Bingo!

To check understanding of musical terms in context, students write possible exam questions for each keywords on the card.
