Full Description

This CVC word building activity asks your students to build different CVC words using the jigsaw pieces. Your students can build words from one word family at a time and record the words they have built on the corresponding response worksheet. Or, your students can mix the jigsaw pieces up and build a mixture of CVC words. There is also a response worksheet that can be used to record a mixture of CVC words from different word families. This activity is great for developing your student’s skills in building and decoding CVC words. Your students will also develop their ability to substitute initial sounds in CVC words which will help develop their phonological awareness and onset and rime skills. This activity can be used by students individually or as a Literacy/Reading Center in your classroom.

How to use this resource

This CVC word activity is perfect for using with smaller groups or as a Literacy Center. Each response worksheet can be laminates or placed into a dry erase folder before use. Your class can then use dry erase markers to complete the activity then simply wipe clean when finished. This means this CVC word activity can be used over and over again saving you time and money!
