Hello, my name is Nicole. As an Australian author and educator, I am excited to offer your school my Australian Department Of Education approved, real world project for primary aged children. An engaging, cross-curricular, learning opportunity that inspires students to speak up, think critically, and care for Australia’s heritage and environment — Voices for Brumbies - Kids Who Care.

This V9.0 curriculum-aligned project empowers students from Foundation to Year 6 to explore ethical decision-making, environmental responsibility, and true civic participation through the current issue of Australia’s wild brumbies, their management by decision-makers, and their effect on the environment.

What’s included: The link above provides Six files, step by step lessions, excel spreadsheets of coded, descriptors relating to each component, a learning vocabulary list, simple rubrics and outcomes.

Three clearly instructed Lesson plans, fully aligned to the Australian Curriculum (Version 9.0) with AC9 content descriptors, simple rubrics and General Capabilities

Hands-on activities including self expression through the arts, ethical understanding through an engaging non-fiction story, referenced fact sheets, and a prompted class debate, plus a templated letter to parliament to have a civic voice.

Links to current, real-world events that connect learning to authentic action and self expression, new vocabulary, European settlement, government, and environmental conservation responsibilities. An opportunity to be part of a historic decision making process on the fate of our Australian wild horse, currently underway. The removal of the brumby heritage act. This removal could lead to an Australian environment without wild brumbies to carry on the legacy of early Australia. What do our future custodians have to say?

Flexible delivery within three easy lessons, or a term-long inquiry project

Students will develop skills in critical thinking, ethical understanding, literacy, and active citizenship — while engaging with a topic that sparks genuine curiosity and debate.

If you’d like your students to take part in this meaningful and memorable project being rolled out around Australia, please find attached your free Teacher Resource Pack and classroom materials. Register your school and begin sharing your involvement in this timely Australia wide civic voice project for kids.

Kind regards, Nicole
