Careers & World of Work – Careers and Citizenship Unit
This comprehensive unit offers secondary students an in-depth exploration of the world of work, providing insights into key career sectors, vital workplace skills, and the future of employment in an ever-evolving job market. Students will examine diverse career paths—from vital public services like the NHS to the dynamic environments of the City and technology sectors. The unit also covers emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and cyber security, preparing students to think critically about jobs of the future.
Alongside career exploration, students will develop essential skills like building a positive work ethic, navigating recruitment processes, and understanding labour market information (LMI). Inclusivity and representation are key themes, with a focus on celebrating the achievements of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) business people and entrepreneurs. This unit is designed to equip young people with the knowledge, motivation, and skills needed to confidently plan their futures and thrive in a diverse and changing workplace.
