This EYFS and KS1 resource supports vocabulary development, reading and writing skills, and topic work related to babies and young children.
It features 10 colourful worksheets, each displaying 16 silhouette-style pictures connected to the theme of babies and childhood. Each picture is accompanied by a matching word, helping children to recognize and associate words with images.
Ideas for Use:
• Cut and Match: Cut out the words and have children match them to the correct pictures.
• Word Ordering: Provide the words separately and encourage children to sequence them in the same order as the pictures on the worksheet.
• Sentence Building: Use the words to form simple sentences (e.g., “Babies learn how to crawl” or “We push babies in a pram”). (Children can write out words and/or sentences).
• Laminated Cards: Cut and laminate the pictures for durability and reuse in matching and sorting games.
• Sorting Activities: Encourage children to group pictures by categories such as food, toys, clothes, equipment, and toiletries.
• Discussion & Storytelling: Link the resource to topics such as Ourselves, Change, Growing Up and Family, supporting speaking and listening, reading, and early writing.
(The provided black and white template can be used for drawing and writing or pasting pictures into).
This resource provides a flexible way to explore early years themes while reinforcing key literacy skills.
