The unit includes two extracts taken from Katherine Mansfield short stories and two sets of exam questions following the GCSE (AQA), Paper One, English Language format.
The first extract is from a story called ‘The Little Governess’ and describes the journey of a young woman travelling by train to Germany. The second extract focuses on the difficult relationship between a woman and her husband.
A second booklet is provided which provides analytical tables to help students understand the type of comments they should make. These give examples, language or structural devices, meaning and effect.
This is a useful unit to teach Paper One as part of class teaching or a revision class.
