AQA English Language Paper 2 Section A introduction lesson for the new 2026 exam papers which have some changes from the old pre-2025 papers.

We explore the key skills needed to master Q4 in the exam, analysing two extracts on the theme of prisons.

We explore Q4 and both sources, focusing on the use of contrast connectives, writers’ methods and cherry-picking evidence to best support our comparisons. Students have an opportunity to make changes to their Q4 answers before redrafting them based on success criteria and key skills.

This lesson will lead into further lessons about writing effective comparisons as part of a new unit of work/scheme of work that is being developed.
