AQA A level Biology Topic 4. Meiosis and Genetic Diversity (3.4.3)
This resource has been made for AQA A level biology but is suitable for all exam boards.

The lesson includes a powerpoint presentation covering the learning objectives below. There are 4 Success criteria exam questions as well as additional exam questions to test knowledge. Starter slides are included and I’ve added ones you can print as hidden slides on the powerpoint. A fun practical activity is also included to help students model meiosis. Questions are included as a 5 Word documents and all the answers are included on the powerpoint as well. This lesson could easily be stretched over two lessons.

LOs:
• Complete diagrams showing the chromosome content of cells after the first and second meiotic division, when given the chromosome content of the parent cell.
• Explain the different outcomes of meiosis and mitosis.
• Recognise where meiosis occurs given information about unfamiliar life cycles.
• Explain how crossing over, independent segregation and random fertilisation lead to genetic variation within a species.

I am updating all my resources for all 8 AQA A level Biology topics in my TES shop so please keep checking back. If there’s anything you need then let me know!
