
This 2 sided A4 worksheet explains the key mechanisms on how ectotherms of (cold blooded) organisms regulate their temperature in cold and hot environmental conditions.
The key points show
heat gains by a lizard if the environment is hotter then the body
Heat losses by a lizard if the environment is colder then the body
It consolidate previous learning on metabolic reactions speed at low temperatures and relates this to enzymes
Students also learn the key ways that ectotherm lose heat from their body as well as the advantage and disadvantages to being an ectotherm
The last bit has some challenging data that students have to be able to read and understand then answer questions to them
