Unit of work for KS3 Drama studying traditional Indonesian Puppet Theatre using the story of Diwali. Aimed at year 7 with lots of cross-curricular links (RE, Music, Art). Currently split into 4 lessons of 90 minutes but could easily be split into six or eight shorter lessons.

Students learn about the world music genre: Indonesian Gamelan
Students will learn the history, culture, instrumentation and techniques of Indonesian Gamelan music while listening to pieces and learning how to perform a rhythmic piece using scales found in Gamelan.
This resource is made on Microsoft PowerPoint and is a full scheme of work aimed at Key Stage 3 students studying World Music. When all ten parts are put together there is enough content to deliver of a full term (12-15 weeks) and it comes with a work booklet with questions the students need uncover the answers to.
It is interactive and click-able with the aim being that students take their time working through it at their own pace so it is perfect for school teaching, homework, at-home learning and online teaching.
There are audio clips, videos and information to uncover and practical tasks in the form of performances and compositions for students to complete.
Cutting it down into smaller chunks also makes it easier to send to students at home who will need to open up the file as a PowerPoint Slide Show.
This resource only operates at 100% accuracy with Microsoft PowerPoint. It will open on Google Slides but there is no guarantee of compatability.

When printed double sided, these flashcards of dolch sight words have English on one side, and the Indonesian translation on the back. It is helpful if you are trying to give meaning to sight words to students who are learning to read English while simultaneously beginning to learn English.
In this unit of work, learners will learn a traditional Indonesian Gamelan piece and will have the opportunity to compose their own in groups.
Included is the workbook to print for each student with assessment rubrics, unit of work and the powerpoint lesson plans.
Two different documents that can be printed extra large and used as a classroom display for students to communicate in Indonesian.
The first document includes words the teacher would say.
The second document includes words the students would say.
A powerpoint to introduce words for chores in the home plus two fun things to do when you relax. The next section of the PPT explains adverbs of frequency. The PPT includes speaking activities and sentence building activities, as well as a link to a video if desired.
I will also include a separate PPT to give to students if remote teaching with the activities only.

2 x “Boggle” worksheets with answers but each of these only has about four words - very hard to do Boggle in Indonesian!

A colour worksheet for primary school students to consolidate their knowledge of telling the time in Indonesian for "half past" the hour. These sheets can be displayed inside plastic folders for students to complete using whiteboard pens. They can then rub out their answers for other students to re-use. It includes an answer sheet on the second page so that students can mark their own work. Perfect as a "fast finisher" resource.
This worksheet provides score examples for pupils to play this style of music working in groups and provides some information about the culture and meaning behind the musical genre/style.
Pupils are given examples of Indonesian Gamelan that can be played on xylophones or glockenspiels, tambourines, cymbals etc.
Then pupils are asked to create their own with template given.

Listening activity about a home tour or show home video from YouTube. Students used this to collect vocabulary and test their understanding in the leadup to a task in which they created their own for sale video and home tour.

An Indonesian language session on the theme of food and going to a restaurant. The lesson features a comic strip about a cat (Kucing) and a fish (Ikan) going to an Indonesian restaurant to order dinner.
Aimed at a secondary college or proficient level. I have used this with a Year 10/VCE class.
