KS4 Disciplinary Literacy for Science - GCSE KS4 4-Pack

4 Resources
Start to embed reading, comprehension and scientific literacy skills into your curriculum with these 4 disciplinary literacy activities. Each takes the form of an engaging article-style passage, putting physics into the context of a historical story or real world applications. These are then followed with comprehension questions that check students understanding of the text. Tier-three vocabulary used throughout is that of AQA, with learning objectives aligned to the GCSE specification. Would also make effective cover work, revision or year 12 transition work.

KS4 Science - Isaac Newton and the History of Gravity - Disciplinary Literacy for Science

(0)
Disciplinary Literacy resource/task based on the different ideas of gravity throughout history with a focus on Isaac Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation. Also mentioned is the work of Aristotle, Brahmagupta, Galileo, Kepler and Einstein. Reading comprehension task featuring a short article of around 2 A4 pages (nearly 900 words) with accompanying questions. This should give an appreciation of how Science works and changes over time and allow them to use key tier 3 vocabulary including: Theory, hypothesis and observation. Answers are included on page 4. Designed for AQA Combined and Triple Science’s Forces topic, used to introduce gravity, it could also be suitable for a standalone Science or Physics literacy task or for cover work, or even A Level Physics. Please leave feedback to help me improve my resources in future.
