Opportunities to identify shapes, explore numbers, order by size, as well was develop fine motor skills through cutting, sticking or colouring. Initial Sounds Page 2-8 can be used by laminating the sheets and encouraging your pupils to put a peg on the initial sound. Or, you may want to encourage children to put a circle around the initial sound. For pages 9-15 the space under the image is blank - you may ask pupils to write the initial sound or have a go at writing the whole word. These flashcards follow many popular phonics schemes, such as Jolly Phonics, Letters and Sounds, Read Write Inc etc.
