A 6 lesson unit of work for a mixed Year 2/3 class that could be easily adapted to suit a single year group.

The lesson sequence of this unit of work:

1. Can I name and locate continents and oceans and understand where I live and how location affects climate?
2. Can I recognise what a mountain is and locate key mountain ranges around the world?
3. Can I describe what a volcano is and where the world’s volcanoes are located?
4. Can I explain how the movement of the Earth causes volcanoes and earthquakes?
5. Can I describe the impact of volcanoes and earthquakes on people and places and identify environmental regions?
6. Can I use maps to represent and describe mountains, rivers and volcanoes?
