Around the world - map skills (add numbers and labels for colour blind students/ low ability before apply task) 2. Why do cities grow - push and pull factors, megacities (use PPT handouts for lower ability). 3. Rio - introducing the city, it's importance, and story for understanding 4. Rio's social challenges and opportunities - added lots of dual coding to this (lower ability may take 3 lessons) 5. Rio's economic challenges and opportunities (a slide on informal economy - you may need to do a bit of teacher talk if yours hasn't learnt it before) 6. Managing urban growth (Environmental factors in Rio) - Good engagement through reading and discussion, evaluation tasks, and an engaging video to add further facts which students seem to all remember because of it's extent 7. Case study Favela Bairro Project (worksheets, discussion, class oracy task helps with their apply task, included textbook reading if you don't have text books or to narrow down for lower ability) 8.
