I have made this Scheme of work for KS3 RE.

The ethos is that we look how the idea of who is God, has changed over human history. Each lesson looks at a different religion/ world-view and allows the students to build an idea of how the idea of God has evolved over the course of human history.

Lesson 1: What is God?
Lesson initially introduces the students to different ideas of God from Greek mythology to Christianity to Scientology and ask students to initially define God in their opinion. Students are then introduced to D. Hume’s theory that: as science grows, people begin to think about God differently, leading to the belief that there is only one, singular God.

Lesson 2: What do Hindu’s believe about God?
Students to look at Hindi polytheistic views on God

Lesson 3: What did the Ancient Egyptians believe about God?
Students to explore the Ancient Egyptian beliefs about Gods and Goddess. Then explore how this impacts the beliefs on society.

Lesson 4: What is Jainism?
Students to explore Jain views on God.

Lesson 5: What is Zoroastrianism?

Lesson 6: What is the Trinity?

Lesson 7: What do Muslims believe about God?

Lesson 8: Who are Humanist?

Lesson 9: Who are Rastafarians?

Lesson 10: Does Scientology believe in God?
To be able to UNDERSTAND what Scientologists believe about God
To be able to IDENTIFY what the main beliefs of Scientology are

Lesson 11: Who is God in the Modern World?
To explore how the idea of God has evolved in the last decade.
To evaluate how has the idea of God changed so much in human history

Attached is a plenary sheet that should be stuck in during lesson 1, students add to the time-line at the end of each lesson. So that they can have a complete time-line of how the idea of God has evolved across Human History.

Scheme of Work attached as well.
