• This teaching resource explains the work of Dr Paul Nathan from The Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto in Canada. He is using large datasets to gain a better understanding of the late effects of childhood and adolescent cancer, with the aim of improving outcomes and support for survivors.
• This resource also contains an interview with Paul, and offers an insight into careers in paediatric oncology. If your students have questions for Paul, they can send them through the Futurum Careers website.
• The activity sheet provides ‘talking points’ (based on Bloom’s Taxonomy) to prompt students to reflect on Paul’s research and challenges them to plan a podcast to raise awareness of the immediate and late effects of childhood and adolescent cancer.
