This game is ideal for revising vocabulary at the end of a topic or at the end of the year. The questions included with the game are aimed at KS3 French, but the game template could be used with any level — and indeed, any language. You can easily adapt the example questions or create your own to meet your students’ needs. Model answers are provided for the example questions included in the PowerPoint.

The questions included will involve students listening to the teacher reading French to translate into English, or to answer a question in French or alternatively they may be asked to translate English into French.

What is the Unfair Game? Students answer questions to earn points for their team — but the number of points (positive or negative) is hidden until revealed. Even correct answers can result in a loss of points, adding an element of unpredictability and fun. This encourages strategic decision-making, reinforces key vocabulary and structures, and increases student motivation. Full instructions for teachers and students are included on the Powerpoint.
