The Small Society, a hardboiled noir set in a tough London comprehensive, stars Philip Hammett, a kid just trying to get through the school day without drawing the attention of The Dark Ages—a gang of juvenile delinquents—or the school authorities. But with a mystery hacker infiltrating the school computers, graffiti appearing on the walls in Russian, and a smart mouth that gets him into trouble, Hammett soon finds that trouble has a way of finding him anyway.

A superb scheme of work - particularly enjoyed the intergration of other references to literature and film. The wide range of new terminology and concepts (there's even brief reference to Foucault and the panoptican) makes it a fabulous text for a top set to really stretch their analysis.
