A detailed ppt with integrated discussion prompts and a group activty/debate in which students must adopt the views and perspectives of either the Syrian citizens who are advocating for democracy, the Assad supports, and the International community. This lesson is based around a timeline of the Assad regime in Syria, bringing students from 1970-2024. There are also two embedded YouTube videos.
I am using this lesson in my TY politics class. Could also be used to teach Politics and Society or as a case-study on authoritarian ruling.
