This resource is good as an activity to introduce learners to the two types of salts: insoluble and soluble. This activity is designed to activate thinking and to build their capability to conduct investigation, recording, and analyzing data.
Learners start by studying the definition of a salt followed by the rules of salt solubility e.g. All carbonate salts are insoluble except sodium, potassium and ammonium carbonates.
They are provided with four colourless salt solutions and investigate the possible identity of each salt along with other possible conclusions to activate their thinking.
This resource is in a PowerPoint format to allow the teacher to modify according to their individual needs. This resource has a detailed instruction for the teacher (Slide #2).
